What we learned: #SDSC22 New York
The 19th-20th October 2022 marked a huge day in the Location Intelligence calendar - the Spatial Data Science Conference NYC!
The conference spanned 2 days with 49 speakers 7 interactive workshops 2 expert panels and 18 presentations. And best of all? Over 400 of you came along to share learn and network!
Couldn’t make it or missing it already? Either way we’ve got you covered with our roundup of the Spatial Data Science Conference 2022 New York Edition!
Interactive workshops for Spatial Data Scientists
Previous versions of the Spatial Data Science Conference have seen our traditional pre-conference technical workshops grow hugely in popularity - and so this year we took them to the next level with a New York City takeover! This year’s conference saw workshops hosted across the city by not just one but FOUR of our fantastic cloud partners - AWS Databricks Google Cloud and Snowflake!
If you’re interested in attending future Spatial Data Science technical workshops make sure you keep an eye on our blog for some exciting announcements coming soon…!
Celebrating gender representation in Spatial Data Science
For anyone working in Spatial Data Science it won’t come as a surprise that our industry has room for improvement when it comes to gender representation. Did you know that 79.6% of the data science workforce in the U.S. are male or that female data scientists earn on average 92c for every $1 their male counterpart makes?
Small steps are what contribute to big changes and we were thrilled to host an evening of talks and networking in collaboration with Women in Geospatial to celebrate and encourage women in Spatial Data Science.
The main event!
The next day was the main event! Held at the beautiful Columbia University on the Upper West Side over 400 attendees joined us for our first stateside in-person event since 2019!
Our presentations and panels covered the most pressing topics in Spatial Data Science such as data’s role in sustainability the no-code and low-code movement and what the future of the “GIS Analyst” looks like. We also saw a range of fantastic use cases exploring areas such as innovations in OOH advertising retail behavior change and route and supply chain optimization.
This event was made possible by our fantastic sponsors and we want to take this opportunity to thank them for their support!
