The Telegraph, created a map which allows you to search for the best living areas using official data on average weekly incomes, crime rates, health, home ownership, and economic activity.
Each variable was given an equal weight to produce a ranking of all 7,137 areas, each with a minimum of 2,000 households and a maximum of 6,000, in England and Wales.
Test Valley, Hampshire, came out as the best place in England and Wales in which to live.
It scored well on household income and health, and low crime rates.
Nowhere in London made the top 10, due to low levels of home ownership and high crime.
The best place to live within commuter range of the capital was St Albans in Hertfordshire, coming 10th in our ranking.
